BJÖRN
WESSMAN
My roads
The road to a picture can be lengthy and laborious.
It takes a man to travel.
Sometimes all you need is to walk around a corner.
I have lived and worked in southern France, the Languedoc region, for 32 years.
Whilst in the area, I sometimes wander the little paths and small roads round vineyards and arid limestone mountains.
The views are grandiose and intimate.
Yet perhaps it is the simple experiences of light, just round the next crest,
which penetrate and deeply mark.
In a series of paintings from the last two years I have wanted to capture light’s ways in a landscape I believe I know, yet which, in its changing nature, appears inexhaustible with new expressions.
