BEING

being – is the feeling one has when getting up early one morning, sitting down in Elle-Mie Ejdrup Hansen’s workshop and slowly feeling how the breaking daylight arouses the colours in her pictures – one after the other – as if the light had taken on the role of painter.

initially it is not the motifs that we see – it’s the colours which later interact with the motifs – be it a flower, a leaf or an animal – and nature fills the space all at once – entering like it did inside Elle-Mie Ejdrup Hansen, filling her palette and mind – with shapes and colours – light and sound.

and it’s precisely by listening to the silence within Elle-Mie Ejdrup Hansen’s paintings that one realizes all of a sudden that it is only possible – first, to paint them - for her – second, to experience them – for us, because behind this creativity, and in front of its imprint, stands - a human being.
